In the 1890’s Nathan A. (Jack) Crawford began his automotive career with Studebaker selling covered wagons. His tenure with Studebaker carried him through the “horseless carriage” era when he decided to start his own business selling automotive accessories. With his main product line being Rex Replacement Car Tops he incorporated the name “Rex” and Rex Sales Company and the company was born.

Jack and his wife Irma had two sons Ned and Nathan (Jim) III, a daughter Mary and son-in-law, Bill all whom worked at Rex truly making it a “Family Business”. After serving for their country in World War II Jim and Bill formed a partnership in the late 1940’s, taking Rex Sales into and through the dynamic automotive decades of the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s.

During the mid 1970’s Jim’s children Scott and Janis started their careers at Rex Sales .  With the advent of Jim’s retirement tin 1986 the tenure as third generation owners began. Scott and Janis worked closely for the next 20 years guiding the company into the 21st Century.

Janis has since retired with Scott being sole owner of Rex Sales . With Scott’s children growing fast and following in their father’s footsteps, working at Rex in the summers and learning the family business. Rex Sales is sure to be around to see the next generation of the automotive industry with fourth generation of Crawford owners.
